Jr. High History Unit Studies Course Descriptions

 

American History /Amercian  Geography Unit Studies grades 6-8

Tuition: $30 per month

This course emphasizes mapping skills, historical information, decision-making, creative thinking, writing, and cooperative learning through three different simulation experiences. Heritage: Students work in groups to visit 15 historical sites in the U.S. Discovery: Students work in groups to cross the Atlantic and establish new colonies. Pioneers: Students travel in wagon train groups to Oregon in 1846.

 and back,non-erasable pens

 

 Unit Studies:  This course wil put emphasis on mapping skills , historical information, decision making, creative thinking, research skills, writing, and cooperative learning  through three different unit studies

 

         Heritage: Students will work with others in a group in an attempt to be the fastest group to travel to 15 different sites in the U.S.. This study will help students  become familiar with many different aspects of U.S. history as well as the geography of the U.S.

          

         Discovery: Students will learn about mysteries, hardships, and excitement faced by early American Colonists by role-playing colonist coming to America.  Students will work in groups to cross the Atlantic and establish a new colony.

 

          Pioneers:  Students will be in wagon train groups heading for Oregon in 1846.  They will face challenges forcing them to make decisions early pioneers had to make on the trail west.
