Fundamentals of Art for grades 5-8:    9:30-11:00AM

Fundamentals of Art for grades 9-12    3:00-4:30PM

·       Offered: Yearly

·       Tuition: $35 per month

Students learn the concrete basics of art elements and techniques. We focus primarily on still life compositions, contour projects, and introductions to drawing techniques. We will use mediums such as graphite, charcoal, ink, and paints. Class does include lectures over art techniques, brief art history, and modern day discussion. This course is recommended before taking other art classes.

Intermediate Art for grades 7-12:   1:15-2:45PM

·       Offered: Yearly

    ·       Tuition: $35 per month

This art class explores boundaries and provides projects that reflect basic techniques, yet allows students to express their individuality. This class will open new ideas on how students will approach projects; which includes mixed media, drawing, painting projects, spray paint and other different forms of medium. Class does include lectures over art techniques, brief art history, and modern day discussion.

These courses allow students to produce endless possibilities of creation and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation around them everyday.

Advanced Art for grades 8-1211:15AM to 12:45PM

·       Offered: Yearly

·       Tuition: $35 per month

This art class sums up the other two genres, but allows students more freedom of creation. However, students will have fewer projects, but more time to concentrate on their pieces. As a result, students will learn how to build up an art portfolio just in time for college. This class gives students the opportunity to push the boundaries of art, and this class does include lectures over art techniques, brief art history, and modern day discussion.

These courses allow students to produce endless possibilities of creation and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation around them everyday.

Spanish I, grades 8-12th: Mrs. Debbie Moore

• Offered yearly

• Tuition: $30 per month

This Spanish course is designed to help students learn the skills necessary for communicating and interacting with Hispanic cultures. The main emphasis of this course will be on conversation. Students will accomplish this by learning vocabulary and phrases related to daily activities and practicing them orally. Grammar points will be addressed, but the main emphasis will be on conversation skills and cultural awareness.

• Tuition: $30 per month

This second-level Spanish course will help the student build on the skills necessary for communicating and interacting with Hispanic cultures. The main emphasis will continue to be conversation and to increase the verbalization and communicative skills learned in the first-level course. There is a slightly greater emphasis on grammar skills, but the major objective remains in helping the student feel comfortable with social interaction in Spanish.

This Spanish course will use vocabulary, phrases and grammar skills learned in Spanish I and II to practice speaking in common situations in a Spanish-speaking country. The majority of classroom practice speaking in common situations in a Spanish-speaking country. The majority of classroom speaking will be done in Spanish.

Show Choir for grades 7-12:  Mrs. Tamara Dawson

·       Offered yearly

·       Tuition: $30 per month; $25 per year for Music and performance shirt

This two-semester course is a fun, high energy class where choreography is put with music.  It focuses on vocal independence, team building, development of stage character and personality, vocal delivery, and visual step arrangements.  There will be two performances – one at the end of each semester.  Music selections will be chosen from contemporary Christian artists, Broadway musicals, Christmas favorites, and various artists from different genres appropriate for class performance.

Computer Applications I and II for grades 7-12:  Mrs. Tamara Dawson (833-6375) tamara.dawson@gmail.com

·       Tuition $35 per month; $25 per semester for handouts

·       Students must have access to a desktop or laptop computer with Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010

·       Students will need to purchase an inexpensive flash drive for file transfer purposes (usually less than $10)

·       Students will also need access to a G-mail account for document sharing and submission (instructor will give further instructions at the beginning of class)

This two-semester course is designed to introduce students to a wide range of computer application programs including desktop publishing, document formatting, spreadsheet functions, and presentation software utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite.  Email etiquette, resume building, basic website production, photo sharing and storage, along with essential internet skills will be demonstrated.  Students will build a portfolio of their work throughout both semesters, which will be presented to the class at the end of the school term.

Students will build a portfolio of their work throughout both semesters, which will be presented to the class at the end of the school term.

Photography/Yearbook for grades 9–12: Mrs. Kim Stubbs

• Offered yearly

• Tuition: $30 per month; $30 supply fee per year

Learn the fundamentals of digital photography skills from a professional photographer!!   Learn some basic photoshop skills and how to use actions in pictures.  This class will have independent assignments in taking picture using several techniques.  “Photography is my passion and capturing your memories is a great way to remember junior high and high school!  Capturing memories . . .not just poses.”  A digital camera and compact flash drive is required.  Your student will also put together the EXCEL 2012-2013 yearbook and make our memories last forever!  Laptop computer with CS4 Photoshop for class would be very beneficial or a home computer with internet access is required to help with the yearbook. 

Required:  Digital SLR camera or a digital camera that allows you to override auto settings; Memory card for your digital camera

Optional:  Personal laptop computer

 

Each student will need a digital camera (required), a SLR preferred but not required and a

small flash drive. List of preferred digital cameras will be given when enrolled in the

class. Limited number of students will be accepted for this class.

The History,Theory, and Practice of Aviation grades 9-12:Mr. Steve Mollick ·       Offered yearly

·       Tuition: $35 per month; $15 material fee per semester aviation on

 

This will be a full-year class divided into two distinctly different semesters

 

The first semester will focus on the history of aviation through an in-depth study of powered flight and focus on the development of civil, commercial, and military aviation. The course willcover significant events and people throughout aviation history from the first powered

flight through present day developments and will even take a look at what is on thehorizon in air and space technology.

 

 We will also examine the impact of aviation on recreation, transportation, warfare, and exploration. We will be using the same textbook that is used in the Aviation History class at OU.

 

The Spring semester will include all the elements required under FAR Part 61 to prepare the student to take the FAA private pilot written examination. Covers FAR's,meteorology, a strong emphasis on aerodynamics, flight physiology, performance charts,various methods of visual navigation and radio navigation techniques. A field trip to theUSAF pilot training facility at Vance AFB in Enid will be planned

 

This class will be appropriate for students who are interested seeking a service academy appointment, an ROTC scholarship, missionary aviation, or who are fascinated by flying
