EXCEL Student Code
EXCEL's teacher seek to perpetuate ethical principles based
on biblical moral values, reflecting Christian integrity while promoting high academic standards. In order for teachers to
be effective and for optimal learning to take place, teachers will expect students to abide by accepted standards of proper
classroom behavior. Each teacher will also make and communicate guidelines specific to behavior in his or her classroom, and
students are expected to abide by those standards as well. All EXCEL guidelines relate to four general standards of behavior:
1. Students must show respect to all who are in authority over
them.
2. Students must show respect for their classmates.
3. Students must complete all assigned work and report to class,
study hall, or student lounge on time.
4. Students must not discuss problems with others not directly
related to the problem.
Specific guidelines for behavior while attending EXCEL classes
are:
1. CD players, cassette players, headphones, or other similar
devices are not allowed on campus. Small tape recorders may be allowed for taping of a lecture with the tutor’s permission.
Laptop computers may be allowed with the teacher's permission, but the use of headphones with the computer should be discussed
with the administrator.
2. Any student who verbalizes intent to harm himself or others
will be taken seriously. Parents will be promptly informed and appropriate law enforcement notified, if deemed necessary,
to protect the safety of staff and students.
3. The staff of EXCEL reserves the right to search backpacks, purses, or
any personal items, without notice, for any reason the administrator or staff deems necessary. EXCEL does not allow the possession
of weapons of any kind, drugs (including cigarettes, cigars, etc.), and alcohol. Parents will be notified immediately about
any violation of this policy, and appropriate law enforcement will be notified, depending on the severity of the offense.
Immediate expulsion (see definitions, p. 9) from current and future classes, with no refunds, will occur for any violation
of this type.
EXCEL Dress Code
All EXCEL students are expected to adhere to modest standards of dress, as becomes a Christian young man or woman,
and to consider and respect others’ standards and the standards expected by the church whose facilities we use. If apparel
and/or accessories could be distracting or offensive to a student, teacher, parent, or member of HBC who happen by, do not wear
these items to EXCEL classes. The EXCEL dress code applies equally to students, teachers, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
